Is it worth going to a museum in the most popular seaside resort? Of course! Check for yourself.
Museum of Sopot
The seat of the museum is the restored, famous villa of Claaszen with a rich pre-war history. A place worth recommending, because a lot is happening inside. The exhibitions present the life of the resort through the changing times. A permanent exhibition has been arranged here, reflecting, for example, the furnishings of Sopot villas at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The general collection includes about 10,000 historical exhibits and works of art, as well as a lot of art exhibits and everyday objects from, among others, the famous Sopot casino. The museum also houses temporary exhibitions, painting, photography and other artistic works.
Archaeological Open-Air Museum - Grodzisko in Sopot
This is a museum both indoors and outdoors. It is made up of a charming open-air museum, a remnant of a fortified settlement. It is the oldest monument in Sopot. The reconstructed castle buildings are presented here: huts, a gate and a partial palisade. All the elements of the buildings were reconstructed exactly in the places where they were discovered and left behind. On the other hand, inside the building there is a permanent exhibition of the oldest archaeological monuments of Sopot and workshops for children and teenagers, where numerous workshops are held. The open-air museum is visited by thousands of tourists from Poland and abroad.
Sopot Wax Museum
It is a great attraction of the city. The wax figure exhibition is located on Bohaterów Monte Cassino Street next to Multikino. It is not great, but among the presented characters we will see, among others Daniel Craig, Tom Hanks, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Steve Jobs or Cristiano Ronaldo. We can take photos and take a close look at popular artists, sportsmen and business people. The museum enjoys great popularity and very positive opinions. There is also a kids' corner with their favorite fairy tale characters.
